Nelson was born and grew up in Virginia; he was the son of the late Bernard and Martha King Harlow. He moved to New York to raise his family in the country.
He had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a caring loving soul and could start a conversation with anyone. And if the topic was cars or hunting, he could talk for hours.
He had a warm generous heart and could be counted on to help anyone who asked without any thought of himself. He loved being out in nature. He was hard working, dedicated and had many talents enabling him to build his dream home with his wife and family. Barb, his wife of 58 years, was the love of his life. His family always came first. His grandchildren and great grandchildren gave him joy.
He enjoyed telling stories- sharing his life and experiences. He will be greatly missed by everyone he touched.
Nelson is survived by his wife Barbara; four daughters Louise (Leonard) Hand, Denice (Jeffrey Sr.) Fischette, Darlene (David) Doig, Lisa (David) Paddock; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister Barbara (Jerry) Butts: a brother Thomas (Patsy) Harlow.
